Ampco’s new CB+ features a sanitary internal seal design that will keep seal faces cooler and minimize product buildup coupled with a Teco motor. Dry running external mechanical seals on standard “C Series” style pumps is unavoidable when pumping wort at temperatures near-boiling. Flashing will occur between seal faces causing premature seal wear. This allows solids to build up between the faces resulting in leaking. The CB+ minimizes seal problems in several ways:

• internal seal is submersed in the product to promote cooling
• when the pressure within the pump rises it creates a higher closing force on seal faces to minimize product buildup, and
• an internal spring agitates wort solids to avoid pooling on seal faces

The Teco Motor

The Optimums TEXP motors are designed and manufactured to operate many types of machinery (including all dust producing machines) in diverse industrial environments. Typical uses include areas in which flammable gases, vapours, or dust may be present in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures.
